This position involves a contract with a local authority focused on housing allocations.
Role Summary:
The primary responsibility is to provide a proficient and effective allocations service, ensuring that the management of the housing register and the allocation of accommodations within the council's stock and partner providers are conducted in line with established policies, national guidelines, and housing legislation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Handle intricate correspondence and phone inquiries regarding housing allocations applications, including eligibility for the housing register and the prioritization of applicants.
- Conduct thorough assessments and investigations to determine eligibility and qualification for social housing, as well as the priority level for applicants.
- Evaluate applications with medical needs, assessing the applicant's health conditions in relation to their housing situation, and make informed decisions regarding priority levels and suitable property types.
- Ensure comprehensive investigations and verification of all applicants' circumstances, conducting interviews as necessary.
- Gather information on available properties and create advertisements for choice-based lettings to inform applicants of their options.
- Oversee the allocation of properties during each letting cycle, ensuring timely shortlisting and nominations in accordance with the housing allocations policy.
- Maintain accurate administrative records and conduct annual reviews of housing applications and changes in circumstances.
- Collaborate with various departments and external organizations to identify housing needs and ensure the correct application of the housing allocations policy.
- Utilize Office 365 and internal IT systems to enhance productivity and manage information securely.
Essential Experience:
Candidates must possess a solid background in housing allocations, with a comprehensive understanding of relevant housing laws and policies.

This role is part of the Housing Solutions Service within the Communities & Opportunities Directorate.
