Fostering Support Worker - Exeter

We are recruiting for a Fostering Support Worker to join our fostering service in the West Country. You will be part of the Exeter Service and will work predominantly within the Devon region. You will be part of a fast-growing team working with the Team Manager, Supervising Social Workers/Senior Practitioners and Clinical Team to develop the service further.

Due to our continuing service development, we are seeking to appoint a Fostering Support Worker to provide support to our supervising social workers and foster carers throughout the West Country region. This exciting and important role requires a range of tasks, working directly with children and young people, Foster Carers, and other professionals to ensure quality outcomes for children and young people.

As a Fostering Support Worker, your responsibilities will include:

  • Promoting the welfare of Children/ young people placed within the Five Rivers Fostering service and Five Rivers as a whole
  • To be involved in practice aspects of placements and to assist in the ongoing placement process
  • To assist the Five Rivers fostering team in helping prepare children/young people for foster care placements
  • ​You will work directly with our children and young people in a skilled and focused way as part of an agreed programme of work
  • You will coordinate groups for trips and participation events and collaborate with our foster carers to give our children and young people a voice

Working as the Fostering Support Worker you will need to be thinking of the child, ensuring they are at the forefront of all decisions. Must be able to work as a team member to achieve the best outcomes for the children and be able to communicate with children and adults. Experience working in the fostering sector and/or with children/young people would be an advantage but not necessary. No formal social work qualifications are necessary, but understanding and empathy for the work required is necessary and on-going training and development will be provided.

Desired skills and requirements:

  • Experience of working directly with children and young people
  • Commitment to engaging in therapeutic training
  • Full UK driving license and access to a car
  • Commitment to working flexible hours
  • Occasional evenings and weekends where this is agreed with line manager

Hours

This is a Full-Time role covering 37 hours a week with some flexibility required to working some weekends
