Role: Health, Safety and Risk Director
Company: Leading UK based Food Manufacturing and Agricultural Business
Salary : £120,000 per annum, with a £8,500 car allowance and 15% bonus + wider package
Location: Covering multiple sites across the UK, predominantly Birmingham and the North West.

Exclusively partnered with an impressive and fast paced manufacturing company, who are looking to hire a Health, Safety and Risk Director. This is a brand new role off the back of significant growth over the last few years following recent acquisition. You will be responsible for ensuring all businesses within the group are moving in the same direction, to help raise the bar for Health and Safety, mitigate potential risk and ensure the business is future fit.

Main accountabilities;
  • Lead the Group HSE agenda together with overall compliance and operational risk management for our businesses. This role will drive their H&S, risk and compliance agenda, culture and legal frameworks across all operating businesses and continually improve practices.
  • Manage and develop an industry leading Health and Safety management system and programme, that is up to date with current and future legislation and best practices.
  • Ensure the board and senior management teams are informed of relevant developing health and safety risk management issues.
  • Provide strategic direction and expert support for the businesses across the Group, working with MD's and aligning with their company plans and long term objectives.
  • Develop the Group strategy for managing H&S and key operational risks, aligning with the businesses plans.
  • Ensure the correct policy, procedures and approach to risk assessments across all business activity.
  • Build an engaged health and safety community and establish a health and safety culture that fosters the behaviours of the Group's values.
  • Lead and develop the businesses in H&S excellence and introduce lasting improvements.
  • Report to the board and senior management on key metrics and critical health and safety related issues including any significant non-compliances.
  • Manage the Group Health and Safety team, with a focus on development and a high performance.
  • Prepare and maintain the appropriate H&S budget.
  • Champion and effectively communicate the H&S and risk management aims and legislation across the Group.
  • Ensure we have the correct H&S resource within all businesses that effectively manage the risks and proactively drive the agenda.
  • Ensure there is an effective training and development system across the Group in relation to H&S and risk, ensuring the model meets compliance standards.
  • Implement the operational risk management policies, procedures, and frameworks across the group.
  • Lead the business continuity plans for the businesses and ensure they remain relevant.
  • Identify and assess potential risks associated with the company's operations, projects, and initiatives.
  • Lead compliance programmes and analyse the company's approach to develop and implement changes to improve workplace adherence to standards, laws and regulations.
  • Monitor and evaluate risks on an ongoing basis to ensure compliance with internal and external regulations and standards.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and plans to minimise the impact of potential risks.
  • Collaborate with functional teams to identify, evaluate, and mitigate risks associated with business decisions.
Essential qualifications and experience;
  • Fast paced manufacturing exposure ideally within the food, drink, agricultural sector
  • Previously held a Director level role or equivalent c-suite experience
  • Strategic and most senior Health and Safety leader, across multiple sites and business divisions
  • NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) as a minimum
  • Able to influence, gain buy -in with strong communication skills
