To fulfill the position as Plant Area Manager at The Chelsea Gardener, you will need to:

  • Have good display and merchandising skills.
  • Be focused, proactive and offer new initiatives to improve the service and business.
  • As a supervisor you will support the management team and be able to follow and implement direct instructions.
  • Be reliable, responsible, helpful and a true team player that can fly solo when necessary.

    Job Description

    As a Plant Area Manager, you will need to carry out the following tasks and be responsible for the following subjects:

    1.-Responsible for meeting the sales targets for the Department. Targets are broken down weekly, monthly, and yearly.

    2.-Responsible for the purchasing according to budget & target and customer's needs. The purchasing will include searching and liaising with existing and new suppliers.

    3.-Identifying customer's needs and trends in order to offer the right products at the right time.

    4.-Responsible for the merchandising and maintenance. This includes developing attractive displays to increase sales, and 'eye catching' displays to maintain the high quality and reputation of the business. The maintenance will require excellent plant knowledge and organisational skills in order the minimise the wastage and keeping the area neat, tidy, and attractive at all times.

    5.-Excellent customer service. This will be the key skill across all responsibilities and tasks. It involves excellent advice on plants and products, and a friendly, polite, and helpful approach with customers and colleagues.

    6.-Responsible for following policies, rules, and procedures in place. This requires being highly organised, having good management time skills, and excel admin and communication skills.

    You will also be responsible for organising staff training within your department.
