Your future role

The Requirements Manager is based at one of our various locations around the UK, leading the requirements management activities across the signalling project portfolio. This role also incorporates accountability for Validation and Verification, Configuration and Change control activities across the signalling project portfolio. The Requirements Manager will be the UK process correspondent for requirements management and will ensure that the requirements processes are embedded across the business. The role also has a multifunctional dimension leading the implementation and supporting the project and design engineering teams with the requirements management throughout the project life cycle.

These projects use the wide range of Alstom signalling technologies including the SMARTLOCK interlocking system, Modular Control Systems, VHLC and Electrologix systems and trackside modules including Smart I/O. Our projects are multidiscipline, complex and are strategically important to our clients. Our engineering teams are supporting some of the most significant projects within the UK.

Your responsibilities:

Set up and define the requirements management structure in line with the Alstom approved processes and using the approved tool set during the tender phase, update upon contract award and maintain the requirement management throughout the project life cycle. To meet the key deliverables of the role the Lead Requirements Manager shall be responsible for the following tasks: Producing a template requirements management plan which project can adopt. Create and maintain the project in the approved requirement's management tools. Perform key user duties for requirement management tool. Analyse the stakeholder needs and expectations to establish the requirement's for a system. Liaise with client at various levels and the system design authority to confirm system requirement's Co-ordinate the Verification and Validation and Configuration and Change management engineering leads to assign requirements to correct subsystem and maintain traceability record. Setup plan and facilitate requirement's coordination meetings particularly between subsystems and interfaces. Verify that requirements and changes are clearly recorded with any supporting information documented/traceable. Support the production of the verification and validation reports Confirm discipline CRE is recording requirement's correctly, adequately defined, categorized. Confirm issues are being actioned / progressed Provide project requirement's management progress reports / KPI reports. Provide requirement's management training as required Undertake the duty of process correspondent for requirement's management Undertake line management responsibility of two staff Support the Competence Manager with the execution of the internal competence management scheme. Undertake mentorship, coaching and give seminars to support succession planning throughout the Engineering business. To take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and other persons who may be affected by your acts or omissions at work. To only undertake safety critical or safety related activities that complies with your relevant competence or authority to work Act as EDU lead for Requirements Management Discipline and report on delivery and performance of Requirements discipline Act as Champion and drive continuous improvement initiatives against Requirements Process Lead and drive process improvements from internal, quality and CMMI audits etc Act as UK Process Correspondent for Alstom Requirements Management Process Reponsible for the periodic reporting of KPIs, delivery milestones, etc to SLT Acting as Work Package Owner for Requirements Management across all projects under Requirement portfolio and report on Programme, budget and resource to PM team Support Bids and tenders team by leading on the production of estimates and scope of works for Requirements discipline Manage and monitor Suppliers, subcontractors including Bangalore team where Requirements work is undertaken by subcontractors

Excellent communications and IT skills are required. Previous experience of working within a systems engineering process environment is essential. Experience of applying RSSB, Network Rail and Industry recognised standards and team management skill are required. Knowledge of GB Mainline, signalling design, installation or testing, with knowledge of railway construction methods and materials used is desirable. Use of database software (such as DOORS/Reqtify) and requirement's capture. Experience of managing and mentoring staff.
