About Westpac: We are Australia's first bank and oldest company, and one of four major banking organisations in Australia. This opportunity sits in our London office working for Westpac Institutional Bank, the division of Westpac, which services the needs of our corporate, institutional, and governmental clients.
How will I help?
The role is primarily responsible for credit risk approval and management of a portfolio of Institutional Infrastructure and Utilities related clients, including Project Finance and Acquisition Finance related transactions.
You will be a key member of the wider Global WIB Credit team responsible for the Offshore Energy, Infrastructure and Natural Resources sector client portfolios. The team also supports Financial Markets and Product teams in the approval and management of credit risk arising from trading and structured products.
- Demonstrate prudent and clear judgment in the assessment and management of the credit risks within the business, including the early recognition of problem loans and implementation of remediation plans
- Approve transactions and customer group risk appetite within delegated authority or support exposures in excess of the delegated authority.
- Adopt a continuous improvement policy to build the Westpac brand leadership in the market.
- Contribute to the strategic positioning of Westpac to ensure credit strategies and policies are appropriately aligned with business units objectives
- Contribute to the development of a sound credit culture within the business
- Work closely with the business to optimise risk utilisation to maximise the return to the bank from the defined / available risk appetite
- Work closely with the Dealing Room Credit Officers to ensure trading is within approved limits or referred to the appropriate authority for prior approval.
- Collating and analysing data to drive effective in-country risk management, including production of risk reporting for local risk management committee and in-country leadership team.
- Ensure policies and procedures meet local regulatory expectations and engage with external regulators as necessary.

What do I need?- Significant experience in a credit related analytical role.
- Previous delegated authority to approve credit risk would be preferable, with experience in the infrastructure-related sectors (including project finance) and acquisition finance product is considered highly desirable.
- Previous experience in credit analysis of the Infrastructure Assets, Greenfield funding, Infrastructure Funds, Global Sponsors, Energy and Resources sectors, and/or financial market transactions is not essential, but would be viewed positively.
- Superior communication skills, excellent negotiating and influencing skills and a commercial mindset to appropriately balance risk and return objectives.
- Practical knowledge of legal documentation (term sheets, ISDAs, project agreements).
- Tertiary qualified with a business degree or post graduate qualifications
