An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Advanced Practitioner to join the team within the Out of Hours Service based within Inverness. The successful candidate will join an experienced group of Advanced Nurses and Paramedics working in partnership with our team of GP`s.

Qualified Advanced Practitioner

The Advanced Practitioner provides assessment, clinical care and management of both the stable and acutely unwell patient and his/her family, making complex, autonomous decisions using advanced skills and knowledge and, having overall responsibility for the assessment of care needs and the delivery of advanced care within the out of hours service.

You would be expected to be working at an advanced practice level with the ability to assess and discharge patients presenting with urgent on the day clinical needs. Experience in managing primary care presentations would be desirable.

There will be a requirement for the successful candidate to undertake home visiting responsibilities as well as face to face assessment and telephone triage. Driving licence will be essential.

As a minimum, the applicant should have an Advanced Clinical Examination course and Non-Medical Prescribing course at degree level. Ideally, you will hold a Pg Diploma in Advanced Practice. Applications are invited from Advanced Nurse and Paramedic practitioners who hold registration with either the NMC or HCPC.

The successful candidate should have excellent communication skills and the ability to work under pressure. They should be able to work within a multi-disciplinary team and display effective leadership skills. The expectation would be for the successful candidate to have a keen interest in teaching and mentoring of junior colleagues as they progress through the advanced practice training programme.

This is an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to progress their career in a supportive clinical environment and will be offered regular protected learning time to support their professional development.

The shift pattern is; Evenings, overnight, weekends and public holiday cover. This post is available to qualified Advanced Practitioners, offering part time hours with fixed term, secondment or permanent contacts considered.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.
