KBR's global business comprises two main segments – Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) and Government Solutions (GS). This role sits within STS in the Integrated Solutions business unit. Integrated Solutions is the engineering and project delivery group providing services which include front-end and detailed engineering, procurement, construction services, and program management primarily in the hydrocarbons and energy transition industries.

As part of the electrical engineering team, you will be involved in the design, specification and services relating to Electrical engineering for projects relating to energy transition. This may be a conceptual study or front end engineering design (FEED) or an EPC / detailed design execution involving, the procurement of all equipment and detailed drawings for the construction and commissioning of an entire facility. There will be a focus within the design on safety, reliability, and quality at all stages of the projects. You will be involved in various project stages from concept to detailed design through to construction, testing and handover which may be offshore or onshore - greenfield or brownfield, refining, hydrogen, renewables etc.


You will be working in a multi-disciplinary project team, which is likely to include engineers from other specialism's including mechanical, structural, civil and instrumentation and will be responsible for liaising with clients and contractors as required.


You will be responsible for study, design, specification and services related to electrical systems including power generation, transmission and distribution, power systems performance and control, switchgear, earthing systems, lightning protection systems, heat tracing etc.


You will be under general supervision, perform assignments requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering principles with support from your lead engineer. You will use your judgment in making selections and adaptation of engineering alternatives. You will be asked to perform specific and well-defined assignments. You will be asked to attend meetings, write reports and giving presentations on the work you are completing.

Responsible for the electrical distribution system design, specification, selection, vendor drawing reviews and testing services relating to energy transition.
Detailed knowledge of electrical equipment is essential as is a good working knowledge of industry standards for electrical equipment. Ability to design, identify and specify a wide range of electrical equipment including: Switchgear (HV/MV and LV), UPS Systems, Power Management Systems, Generator Control Systems, Lighting and Small Power Systems and associated Distribution Equipment.


The required competency and skills would typically have been built up working for a consultant engineering company, equipment fabricator or end user company. Personnel would be expected to have a varied and extensive experience of electrical equipment applications in the onshore and offshore oil and gas project environment to include concept, front end engineering design, detailed design, commissioning and operations.
Job success will depend on interpersonal skills and the effective interaction with others. Selected personnel will be highly competent in written and spoken communication and be able to use a range of standard software such as MS Word and MS Excel to prepare technical documents and to write technical reports.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the design of electrical system to required specifications, focusing on safety, reliability, and quality
  • Perform designs in compliance with design, standards and codes of practice
  • Creating and interpreting design specifications, data sheets, schematics and layout drawings for oil and gas onshore and offshore installations
  • Designing systems and electrical equipment for example, HV and LV switchgear, transformers and UPS systems
  • Knowledge of short circuit hand calculations
  • Involved in the research of suitable engineering solutions for extreme environments such temp from minus fifty degrees to fifty plus degrees
  • Able to communicate effectively and multi-task

Skills and Experience

  • Concept / FEED / EPC Electrical Engineering experience (Energy Transition Projects)
  • Interpreting technical drawings and / or creating or checking schematics or other electrical drawings.
  • Managing electrical interfaces between packages including GTGs and Switchgear
  • Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards
  • Knowledge of power system analysis software

Educational Experience

  • Bachelors/Masters degree in an Electrical Engineering subject with relevant industry experience.
  • Member of a relevant professional body.
