Indirect Tax Senior Manager

- Financial ServicesBrewer Morris are delighted to be supporting this global financial institution with their new hire for a Senior Manager in the Indirect Tax team.
The role is predominantly advisory with some compliance oversight and will mostly focus on the UK, with responsibility for a couple of other jurisdictions.
You must be an excellent business partner able to communicate and influence appropriately to ensure the strategic initiatives are adhered to.
Duties:
Offer practical and commercially focused indirect tax advice on regional projects and transactions, with an emphasis on VAT and other indirect taxes (e.g., customs duties).Build and maintain good relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely communication regarding transactions with tax compliance implications.
Review and continually ensure the appropriateness of the UK Partial Exemption Methodology.
Take a leading role in managing the relationship with HMRC.Prepare documentation and analysis on critical indirect tax positions and decisions, including the analysis of potential tax reserves for agreement with the Group's auditors.
Lead in documenting and managing the Group's indirect tax policy.Monitor and manage indirect tax legislation and its applicability to the Group, ensuring timely updates and appropriate actions to maintain compliance.
Maintain excellent technical knowledge of indirect tax issues within the financial services/fintech sector and develop a strong commercial understanding of the industry to deliver VAT training to the wider business, commercial, and finance colleagues.
Partner with the Tax CoE to manage VAT/GST tax audits and inquiries raised by tax authorities.Requirements:
ACA, ACCA or CTA or equivalent qualifications.
Excellent UK VAT technical knowledge.
Previous experience managing HMRC and PESM negotiation relationships.
Previous involvement with strategic matters relating to VAT.Excellent business partnering capability.
