We currently have vacancies for newly qualified and experienced First Level Registered Mental Health Nurses, within Psychiatry of Old Age services, Angus. We are a very friendly and welcoming service which consists of a 12 bedded functional assessment unit, 2 organic assessment & challenging behaviour units, which are located on two sites across Angus – Stracathro Hospital, and Whitehills Health & Community Care Centre.

Candidates should have a current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and if not newly qualified, be able to demonstrate equivalent experience of previous post registration experience.

Candidates must have a positive approach to teamwork, a commitment to caring for older people and to their ongoing professional development. The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate current thinking, in relation to older people and mental health care and a willingness to respond positively to change.

Hours of work: full and part time available.

It is a requirement of the posts that you participate in the provision of a 24-hour service and you will be required to work day or night duty dependant on the needs of the service. This will be remunerated, accordingly.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
