As part of the NTP team, play a key role in developing and executing press campaigns for tours and transfers of productions originating at the National Theatre.

National Theatre Productions (NTP) aims to extend the life of National Theatre productions, without subsidy, in London's West End, on tour throughout the UK, on Broadway, internationally, and in collaboration with coproducing partners around the world.

The post holder will work with the Head of Press & Communications (NTP) on shows touring the UK and Ireland, to London's West End, to Broadway and further afield.

Productions will include (but will not be limited to) the global phenomenon, War Horse, which is soon to embark on a large-scale UK and Ireland tour, The Lehman Trilogy which returns to the West End following successful international dates and, Dear England, the recent Olivier Award winning, 'Best New Play'.

The post-holder will also contribute to department-wide initiatives including audience development and the making of digital content for social media.

The role involves working closely with other NT colleagues such as the wider Press Team, the Marketing, Digital and Broadcast departments, Access, Development and Publications as well as Producers and Production Creative teams. The role requires regular close working with external consultants, suppliers, stakeholders and marketing and press teams across venues in our touring network.

Responsibilities

To research, plan and implement press campaigns for productions across all forms of media, working with colleagues, company management and creative teams to secure and achieve varied press coverage for NTP shows, maintaining a high standard of professionalism and creativity.Liaise with journalists daily to facilitate requests such as arranging interviews and press tickets, supplying press images, issuing press releases and press night invitations.Liaise with tour venues in the UK and internationally on the publicity campaigns and in-week activity for NTP productions, working with the Company Manager and company and creatives to secure press opportunities, create and distribute briefing notifications, supervise press events and arrange travel.To draft press releases to announce productions, access performances, and casting announcements. Proofreading of press materials.Use of the NT's media database, Cision, to research journalists and PR opportunities and to distribute press releases.To oversee the coordination and distribution of daily/weekly press cuttings and press reports with the Head of Press & Comms and Press & Marketing Assistant whilst also monitoring press stories and topical issues in the theatre, and wider arts, sector.Working with the NTP marketing and general management team on planning and implementation of special events, including press nights and rehearsal room events. Knowledge, skills and experienceExperience in theatre publicity dealing with a range of local, national and international journalists and a genuine interest in press relations.Experience of working in a busy work environment with touring experience and/or co-producing partnerships.The ability to deal confidently, courteously and discreetly with all levels of the media, theatre personnel and the public (both in person, over the phone and on email) with experience of building successful relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.Prior experience of creating and managing dynamic, wide reaching and inclusive press campaigns.Experience at working at press events e.g. Press Launches, Media Calls, Opening Nights and Media Calls.
