A place shaped by the local community, Tredegar House and its surrounding gardens and parkland stand proudly at the heart of Newport's heritage.

Tredegar House has a bustling 80-seater cafe 'The Brewhouse' which is open all year and is located outside the pay barrier, this means the public can visit the café alongside National Trust members and visitors. We also operate a take-away outlet which adjoins The Brewhouse, this is open weekends and school holidays during the spring and summer. We have external seating for approximately 200 people. We also have plans to grow our F&B offer over and increase the number of outlets across the next 12 months and beyond.

What you'll be doing

You'll oversee all aspects of F&B operations at Tredegar House. You'll need to recruit, induct, motivate, inspire, coach, and develop your team. You'll ensure your team have clarity of purpose and recognition of results achieved. You'll need to plan and prioritise your own time and that of your team, you will also need to delegate tasks to others. You'll host regular 1:1's with your direct reports (currently four) along with bi-annual performance reviews and regular full team meetings. You'll lead your large and diverse team through a significant period of change and growth.

You'll be visitor focussed and passionate about continually looking for ways to improve visitor experience. You'll oversee all aspects of Health & Safety compliance including Food Safety, allergens, COSHH, staff training, risk assessments and complete regular audits. You'll work to deliver KPI's and manage your account to ensure budgets are delivered. You'll identify new opportunities and work with your F&B Area Manager to make strategic decisions for the benefit of your operation.

You'll balance making money, delivering a great visitor experience, and ensuring the wellbeing of your team. At present approximately 60% of your time will be office based and 40% of your time will be visitor facing, leading your team by example, and being hands on within your F&B operation. The % of office time will likely increase as the operation and team grows.

We have a fantastic F&B Team at Tredegar but need to recruit an experienced F&B leader who will support the team to drive the business forwards. Along with leading your team, you'll work closely with the wider property team at Tredegar House to ensure a cohesive 'one team' approach and an exceptional holistic visitor experience. You'll also work closely with your F&B Area Manager (your line manager), as well as collaborate with and support the wider South Wales F&B Team.
