Why this job matters


he ICC-Converged Core Integration team help build BT's biggest and fastest broadband network within Converged Core and Edge. On a daily basis you will liase with field engineers as well as other key stakeholders.

We are piloting innovative automation initiatives that will change the way we work as a team and unit.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to join a team of professionals that own the Converged Core daytime integration work within Networks from Scheduling to Integration, it is an extremely varied role which will allow you to work on several areas of the network, developing skills and capabilities to support your personal growth and the BT Network Goals.

You'll work on key projects for National Critical Infrastructure, providing the network which keeps the nation safe and protected.

The Network Engineering Professional supports the delivery of engineering activities that contributes client technical requirements, deploying optimal networking and connectivity solutions that enable clients and the enterprise to achieve their operational and business goals.



What you'll be doing



• Seeks continuous improvement and efficiency opportunities in order to automate, centralise, standardise and simplify processes, contributing to the delivery of improvement projects and initiatives.

• Ability and skillset to deal with engineers integrating equipment within the exchange via the group phone system.

• Champion the customer requirement, focussing on the delivery of high-quality products, meeting the customers' needs and expectations.

• A pro-active professional, quick to respond to the demands of the business and customer, being responsible and accountable for your actions and the impact it has on the business, network and customer.

• Act as a SME to deliver automation, relevant system developments and process changes

• Data analysis on what we are delivering compared to forecast.

• Responsible for the identification of personal and team knowledge gaps, identifying a suitable source of training to support personal and team development to the benefit of the business and customers. Additionally, responsible for identifying and applying for funding to support this.

• Own and manage any incidents or escalations, devising solutions with other business areas as required, implementing these in the network to deliver value to BT and their customers

• To work flexibly to meet the needs of the business and customers, in line with change management constraints.

• Knowledge of the E2E journey of the Service Provision Team Products.

• Own and manage the delivery of the task from initial receipt to completion (E2E), managing stakeholders' expectations, scheduling work and communicating with stakeholders at all levels.

• May represent the company in legal proceedings

• Communicate clearly, presenting data and technical subjects in a clear way to ensure understanding by all stakeholders to support decision making.

• You may be responsible for the delivery and presentation of BT services and products to wider audiences both within and outside BT.

• Managing change on the Network through the use of standardised risk management tools and engineering management practices.

• Execution of network change activities in line with process and change management best practices. With Serious About Service at the forefront of every decision

• Provides support and advice to deliver operational activities, using sound technical capabilities to deliver relevant plans while ensuring adherence to Network change standards within defined timescales.

• Responsible for maintaining multiskilling competencies to ensure increased demand within various workstreams can be managed without detriment to team output or customer experience.

• Adhere to the BT Values in everything we do, as defined by:

• Identification of reoccurring issues within Integration of products onto the Network, escalating, when required, as problems for root cause analysis and resolution



Skills and Experience

Case management - You balance and prioritise your workload and cases efficiently with minimal supervision, supporting other team members to prioritise their work. You make informed judgments about business impact, value and other relevant factors.

Legal and Co Sec excellence - You develop and apply your knowledge of local and international law and / or corporate governance issues relating to our business. You manage routine legal and Co Sec issues and provide commercial advice.

Product and service knowledge - You continuously build your understanding of infrastructure, products, services and complex offerings. You share knowledge with your team and tailor solutions to meet the unique needs of the customer.

Operational excellence - You identify what resources will be required to deliver operational activities. You organise the right resources to maximise operational performance and add value, escalating requirements in non-standard situations to maintain exceptional results and service.

Testing and quality assurance - You perform rigorous, complex testing and inspections to evaluate quality and performance. You discuss the results with your team.

Be agile - You use your knowledge of best practice to collaborate with peers across the business in different ways.

Experience you'd be expected to have

Mandatory

• Demonstratable experience in Nokia Service Router or Router Technologies

• Strong Interpersonal and Leadership Skills

• Effective communication skills

• Adaptability to various work streams

• Project Management qualification or demonstratable experience

• Stakeholder management

Desirable

• Demonstratable experience of Converged Core scheduling and Integration

• Knowledge of BTs 20 and 21 Century Network

• Qualification or Experience in Continuous improvement Methodologies

• Qualification or Experience in Risk Management

• Qualification or Experience in budget management
