Enterprise Integration Architect

The Integration & DevOps Enterprise Architect plays a pivotal role in shaping the integration and DevOps technology strategy for the UK Firm. This position is responsible for translating strategic goals into actionable roadmaps that guide investment priorities and transformation initiatives. The integration strategy aims to deliver a seamless experience for both customers and employees by facilitating the efficient development and adaptation of reusable integration components. Emphasis is placed on leveraging modern, Cloud-based technologies and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to support various integration scenarios. Additionally, the architect will establish an operational framework that meets business demands for integration design, development, testing, and deployment, while also creating an integration catalogue to encourage the reuse of new technologies and phasing out legacy integrations.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will be expected to:
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of integration platforms, emerging technology trends, and the KPMG technology ecosystem.
  • Develop and manage integration roadmaps and solutions.
  • Oversee technology choices relevant to the Firm.

Core Knowledge Requirements
  • Possess a deep understanding of current and future technology market trends and their implications for business.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of KPMG's technology ecosystem, including key applications and technologies that interface with integration solutions.
  • Provide guidance and learn from other Member Firms and client teams regarding the implementation or enhancement of integration technologies.

Roadmap & Solutions Development
  • Construct and uphold the Integration & DevOps technology roadmaps and architecture for KPMG assets, collaborating with Capability CTOs and relevant business and technical SMEs.
  • Create and revise documentation using architecture tools such as ARIS and Alfabet.
  • Ensure alignment of Capability roadmaps with integration and cloud strategies, ensuring coherence with other capabilities and technology domain roadmaps.
  • Collaborate with Capability CTOs and technical SMEs to translate business needs into feasible technical requirements.
  • Ensure that Solution Architects produce designs that are appropriate, adhere to established standards, utilize reusable components, and align with broader KPMG technology domains.
  • Contribute to the selection of specific integration technologies.
  • Influence stakeholders to adopt optimal technology solutions.
  • Lead and facilitate the Data & Integration Design Authority (DIDA).
  • Support the design and implementation of operational models that enhance the effectiveness of integration deployments.
  • Identify and escalate risks, issues, and critical dependencies to leadership to ensure successful strategy execution.

Technology Governance
  • Assist in establishing and participating in the technology assurance process, developing reference models, and ensuring adherence to standards, patterns, and reusable components.
  • Oversee the decommissioning of legacy technology to mitigate technical debt.
  • Support the selection and implementation of enterprise architecture tools that facilitate and govern technology initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Essential (Integration)
  • Proven expertise in Azure Integration Services (AIS), including API Management, Logic Apps, Event Grid, Service Bus, Key Vault, and Blob Storage.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of DevOps & IaC, including Azure DevOps, GitHub, Terraform, Azure Bicep/ARM, and Azure Policy.
  • Familiarity with other leading Cloud-based integration platforms such as AWS Integration Services, MuleSoft, Dell Boomi, and Informatica.
  • Understanding of security considerations for integration and cloud environments.
  • Strong knowledge of integration and data architectures, API management, service buses, adapters, ETL operations, and data models.
  • Experience in creating integration patterns and utilizing architecture tools.
  • Proficiency in integration monitoring and alerting, including automation in ServiceNow.
  • Significant experience in implementing integration platforms, including serving as a technical lead and chairing a design authority.
  • Expertise in designing complex integration patterns and reusable components.

Essential (Other)
  • Experience with Agile Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies.
  • Understanding of common business analysis techniques.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences effectively.
  • Strong general technical knowledge of current and emerging technology trends.
  • Good understanding of project management principles.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to leverage internal networks for additional expertise.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity at project inception while providing clear direction.

Desirable
  • Experience leading offshore teams.
  • Practical knowledge of GDPR and ISO 27001.
  • Qualifications in ITIL and TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Framework).
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
