As a Product Manager, you'll work together with product and engineering teams to devise solutions to regulatory challenges facing , with a focus on the Trips Business Unit. Using your experience and knowledge, you will enable product teams to confidently deliver the right solutions based on your exemplary product discovery/analysis.

You will drive the product vision, direct strategic initiatives and the creation of product roadmaps in collaboration with your product teams and your main stakeholders.

About the team

Product management is a crucial aspect of any business, and it is even more important in the travel e-commerce industry. Today, more than ever, the industry is subject to regulatory requirements that affect the way travel companies operate.

The Trips business unit, recognising this, has recently established a new horizontal Product group (Trips Regulatory Technology - TRT) which aims to centralise product discovery (and delivery as far as is possible) for compliance solutions needed by Trips BU. Our delivery approach involves either:

  • implementing existing solutions to regulatory challenges within Trips that have already been developed by other areas of the business
  • developing new products & services OR make changes to existing ones to ensure Trips BU remains compliant
  • supporting other teams within Trips BU to make necessary changes to their products and services.

About the Role

The TRT Group has a vacancy for a Product Manager who will focus primarily on compliance problems affecting our Traveller facing products.

Reporting into Product Director - TRT, the successful candidate will oversee one team themselves and potentially have another PM reporting to them running a second team.

Key stakeholders include:

  • LPA - Legal and Privacy
  • Tax
  • Finance
  • Other Trips BU product departments
  • Commercial teams

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will work with the key stakeholders across to interpret regulations and identify any implications for the products and services within Trips BU.

This person will work with stakeholders to elicit their requirements, explore suitable solution options, make recommendations for the solutions to move forward with and then see those solutions through to full implementation. Throughout this entire process, the successful candidate will evidence exemplary stakeholder management to keep all parties informed of the status of product discovery and delivery efforts.

The initial focus of the successful candidate will be on compliance requirements / challenges facing our Partner and Traveller facing products in TBU.

To successfully fulfill the role, they will:

  • Develop a deep understanding of Traveller focused compliance requirements facing and Trips BU
  • Gather data & insight to identify and inform prioritisation of opportunities/challenges
  • Work with key stakeholders to define the overall vision, strategy and roadmap for their areas of the TRT Group.
  • Work with cross functional teams to drive business impact
  • Work collaboratively with a team of developers, designers and testers to deliver improvements that enable us to remain compliant whilst also delighting customers
  • Be accountable for the end-to-end delivery of your product
  • Ensure the team has well defined stories and acceptance criteria, aligned to Objectives and Key Results
  • Maintain a strong focus on monitoring and measurement of your product to inform our commercial relationship with our insurance partners
  • Write, review and take responsibility for clear, concise and comprehensive technical documentation.
  • Adhere to the default principles for architecture, quality and non-functional requirements
  • Work with agile coaches and your team to drive continuous efficiency improvements and better ways of working
  • Communicate with multiple key stakeholders to keep them up to date and bought into your product roadmap.
  • Communicate and influence through data, flexibility and consensus while seeking clarity from ambiguity

Your skills and experience i.e. what you'll bring.

  • 3+ years experience building technical products
  • Demonstrable track record of Product Discovery experience where you had to understand, scope, and prioritize solutions to identified market problems;
  • Experience working with complex sources of data to make data-informed decisions;
  • At ease synthesizing and communicating customer insights into actionable business problems;
  • Consistent successful track record of delivering large-scale, highly-available e-commerce software and services
  • Proven ability to influence technology teams and multiple stakeholders using data, standards and the best practices
  • Experience in new product/platform development & delivery in a complex environment; sizing-up business opportunities and translating them into product requirements
  • Ability and drive to learn our infrastructure & technical foundations, system architecture and the technical direction of
  • Knowledge and experience in end-to-end solution delivery
  • Interpersonal skills focused on collaboration, building links and relationships within diverse engineering teams, across the organisation
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and project management skills
  • Fluent in the English language both spoken and written
  • At ease operating and leading, potentially multiple teams, in an Agile development environment.

Desirable Skills

  • Previous experience delivering solutions to significant compliance challenges facing an ecommerce business, where the solutions were complex in nature.
  • Computer Science background is a plus
