Overall purposenThe purpose of the role is to oversee the management of the Student Information System (SIS) at Regent College London. The role requires a detailed understanding of student record systems in the context of the UK Higher Education (HE) sector. The SIS Systems Manager will work at the intersection of Technology and Registry, ensuring seamless integration and functionality of the SIS to support the college’s academic and administrative operations.

The primary focus of the role will be to support critical Business As Usual (BAU) needs of the organisation. This will involve working with the Registry team on operations and regulatory returns, such as HESA Data Futures. In addition, the SIS Systems Manager will support administrative tasks within the system, such as data integrity checks, and some configuration changes. Experience with UNIT-e would be ideal, but candidates with experience in other leading student record systems such as SITS are also encouraged to apply.

With their experience, the holder will also collaborate with in-house developers to support the implementation of new features and enhancements, ensuring the system meets the evolving needs of the institution without negatively. This includes working closely with key stakeholders to identify and address system requirements, facilitating improvements in curriculum management, and ensuring compliance with regulatory obligations such as HESA Data Futures.

The role requires an individual who is not a developer but is highly comfortable working with technology. The holder will have an opportunity to make a real contribution to delivery and operational efficiency at Regent College London.

Specific duties and responsibilitiesnOversee the day-to-day operations of the Student Information System, ensuring it meets the needs of the college.nProvide in-depth knowledge and support for the student record system management, including troubleshooting, user support, and system optimization.nCollaborate with key stakeholders across Technology and Registry to identify system improvements and address user needs.nWork closely with developers to plan and implement new features and system enhancements, ensuring alignment with institutional goals.nSupport the institution’s regulatory obligations, such as HESA Data Futures, by ensuring data accuracy and system compliance.nFacilitate improvements to curriculum management through system enhancements and data analysis.nAssist with administrative tasks within the SIS, such as data integrity checks, and configuration changes.nContribute to the design and development of new tools and features to support the college’s strategic objectives.nAct as a liaison between non-technical stakeholders and the development team, translating requirements and ensuring clear communication.

Additional duties:nStay updated with the latest trends and best practices in MIS and higher education technology.nProvide training and support to staff members on the best practice use of the SIS.nContribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Technology and Registry functions.

Person SpecificationnEXPERIENCE & PERSONAL QUALITIES

Essential:nProven experience managing student information systems.nStrong understanding of the higher education sector and its regulatory environment.nExcellent collaboration and communication skills, capable of working across various departments.nDemonstrated ability to manage system administration tasks and user support.

Desirable:nProven experience in working with developer teams, with a focus on both BAU and project-based tasks.nProven experience managing UNIT-e student record systems.nProven experience in managing complex development work around critical live systems.nExperience with HESA Data Futures and other regulatory reporting requirements.nPrevious experience in a similar role within a higher education institution.

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

Essential:nProficiency with student information systems in the UK Higher Education sector.nComfortable working with technology and coordinating with technical teams.nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.nUnderstanding of data management principles and practices.

Desirable:nProficiency with ESS UNIT-e student record system.nTechnical troubleshooting and development skills in the Student Information Systems area.nExperience working on system improvement and integration projects.

EDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Essential:nEducated to degree level or equivalent experience.

Desirable:nRelevant professional certifications in areas of service delivery, change management, project management.
