Job title: Senior Staff Nurse
Location: York
Salary: Paying up to £50,395
Essential experience: Two years' experience of working as a Staff Nurse within a Neurobehavioral setting.
Main Purpose:
As a Senior Staff Nurse, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the lives of individuals with acquired brain injuries by providing strong clinical leadership that minimises the impact of their condition, promotes recovery, and ensures overall well-being. You will support the Ward Manager in leading, coordinating, and supervising a dedicated team to deliver high standards of nursing care, while also managing direct patient care and modelling exemplary clinical behaviours. Your responsibilities include promoting and monitoring safe and effective practices to ensure a positive experience for service users, all while contributing to the achievement of the organisation's objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Leadership: Provide daily clinical leadership, ensuring exceptional care standards are upheld, acting as a positive role model, and following best practice guidelines.
Care Coordination: Assist in the effective assessment, admission, and discharge planning with the care team.
Communication: Establish systems and processes for effective communication and continuity of care, liaising with interdisciplinary teams.
Staff Empowerment: Enable and empower staff to deliver high-quality, person-centred care.
Learning Culture: Foster a culture of learning and reflective practice within the ward, promoting continuous improvement.
Care Standards: Establish and maintain high care standards, ensuring risk management strategies are in place.
Safeguarding: Ensure all staff recognise and report potential or actual signs of harm, abuse, and neglect, taking appropriate steps to protect service users.
Recruitment & Retention: Participate in staff recruitment and retention, supporting the induction and mentorship of new staff and students.
Staff Well-being: Monitor and promote the health and well-being of staff, addressing any signs of stress or ill health according to organisational policies.
Confidential Communication: Ensure effective, confidential communication with service users, their families, and colleagues, advocating on their behalf when needed.
Medication Management: Adhere to organisational and NMC guidelines for the safe handling, administration, and storage of medication.
Risk Management: Conduct and implement risk assessments, ensure infection control measures, and manage equipment and incidents effectively.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work with other wards to ensure efficient care pathways and service delivery.
Direct Patient Care: Manage direct care for service users with complex needs, setting an example for clinical behaviours.
Complaint Management: Assist in investigating and responding to service user complaints in line with organisational policy.
Legislation & Compliance: Stay informed of relevant legislation and ensure compliance in all areas of responsibility.
On-Call Support: Provide on-call support as required to ensure the continuous delivery of care.
