The Company
An expanding food ingredients supplier that sells its products to the Food Manufacturing sector. With ambitious yet achievable growth plans, they are seeking to appoint a National Account Manager to drive sales within the UK market. With significant potential to increase sales within a number of existing accounts, we are seeking a National Manager who is experienced, highly driven and able to maximise commercial opportunities.
The Role
The National Account Manager will be the driving force behind the company’s short, medium and long-term sales activities and will be responsible for ensuring the commercial success of the business through profitable growth of sales and margin, selling predominately ingredients and ambient products.
Key accountabilities will be:
* Account management of current product portfolio within existing customers.
* Negotiate and agree business plans with major customers.
* Organise and attend customer meetings.
* Gather market and customer information to identify new product opportunities that fits with the company strategy.
* Take ownership of the full sales process from initial meeting through to sale and ongoing customer sales support.
* Set, agree and manage a twelve-month sales plan and expenditure budget.
* Build strong relationships with major food manufacturing groups, through to smaller artisan food producers.
* Proactive member of the team, sharing information, ideas and best practice.
* Taking a hands-on approach with daily contact with customers.
* Monitoring competitor activity and market trends.
* Maintain and expand detailed database for the company which included customers and suppliers.
* Manage promotional events for the company including trade food shows.
* You should demonstrate the following skills, knowledge and experience:
* Strong hands-on track record of developing profitable sales within the UK Food Manufacturing sector.
* Commercial experience in dealing with suppliers as well as customers.
* May have existing relationships with food companies such as ready meal producers, chilled food businesses, bakeries, foodservice operators etc.
* First-class negotiation skills.
* High levels of literacy and numeracy.
* Good analytical skills, able to demonstrate a balanced well-reasoned approach to problem solving.
* Able to work manage your time effectively whilst working remotely.
* Live close to the motorway network, ideally M6, M1, M62.
