Our local authority client based in West London are urgently seeking an experienced Temporary Accommodation Allocations Officer.
*£218.82 a day Umbrella*
*3 days in the office/on site*
Description of Duties:
1. To maintain a detailed knowledge of relevant legislation and Council policy in relation to the statutory provision of temporary housing. To operate within relevant Codes of Guidance, statutory guidance, council policy and housing legislation.
2. To ensure the timescales for letting temporary accommodation are met in line with targets to minimise lost revenue of rent. Actively work in partnership with colleagues and providers to achieve this as well as identifying new initiatives to help reduce void turnaround times.
3. To facilitate the temporary allocation process and all related functions including assessing and placing homeless households in all forms of suitable and affordable temporary accommodation in discharge of the Council’s duty, setting up and ending tenancies as appropriate
4. To assess whether the essential housing needs of applicants have been met in the provision of temporary and interim accommodation, conducting refusal interviews and where necessary undertaking the discharge of the Council’s relevant duty.
5. To assist with required arrangements and transport, removals, storage for households moving into/out of temporary accommodation, interpreting services and related functions.
Knowledge & Experience
* An understanding and knowledge of housing and other relevant legislation and regulatory frameworks within housing, especially in the context of the statutory provision of temporary accommodation
* An understanding of the problems faced by homeless households in temporary accommodation, and a passion to deliver a quality service to disadvantaged groups, within the context of limited resources
* Experience of working in a busy customer facing service and dealing sensitively and effectively with customer issues, particularly in relation to vulnerable people
* Experience of working within a performance management framework and reporting on KPIs and outcomes
* Able to demonstrate self-motivated, to work and deliver within this context
