Description of role:

The Support Worker will assist the Session Leader to create a welcoming, supportive and safe environment for Border Links Club Members. S/he will work under direction to enable Border Links participants to engage in events, activities and the use of community resources and facilities. The Support Worker will aim to enable and assist each individual to foster and develop their own interests and skills.

Duties and responsibilities _

  • To promote the principles of
    Rights, Independence, Choice and Inclusion as outlined in the Government White Paper
    'Valuing People'.
  • To provide appropriate support to enable individual participation in community based activities, choices and interests, including the use of relevant public resources and the development of new social events, activities and services.
3 To support the Session Leader to organise and deliver community based

activities, both in the venue and out of doors.

  • To assist the Session Leader in developing 'local community links' with others, e.g. voluntary and community agencies and to help facilitate 'social inclusion' by assisting people to develop their own networks of community support.
  • To assist with regular Health & Safety checks/monitoring as requested.
  • To undertake relevant training as directed by Border Links Management
  • To provide transport for participants, as required, to and from Border Links
venues and when accessing community resources as necessary

  • To contribute to the maintainance of appropriate records and undertake
monitoring and review processes as requested.

  • To support the Person Centred Planning process and contribute to the realisation
of participant's Person Centred Plans.

Quality Assurance
All Border Links staff are accountable for the quality of their own work.

All will be expected to adhere to the quality procedures applicable to the post, and to ensure that all users of services have their needs and expectations identified and fulfilled.


Communication


To attend staff meetings and briefing sessions as required and to be fully conversant with the Border Links procedures, policies and objectives.

To participate in effective liaison within the Border Links team.

Health Safety


All staff are expected to comply with the organisation's Health and Safety arrangements and procedures and have a responsibility to advise their line manager of any issues or concerns which may impact upon the provision of a safe and healthy environment.

Training and Development

All members of staff will receive on-the-job training and support relevant to their roles. Additional training needs and opportunities will be identified through a Staff Supervision and Review process. All staff are expected to comply with the procedures related to this process.
