EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

We're looking for an individual with Hydraulic Modelling experience to join our Waste Networks Optimisation team, with a responsibility for deep diving issues on the network in conjunction with our on-site specialists to help understand the root cause of issues in our aim to test and provide solutions.

In this role, you'll be evaluating the wastewater network in areas where there are current performance risks and issues, using your knowledge to interrogate our hydraulic models to help identify the root cause. Where further information is required you will be suggesting areas for data improvement and supporting our specialists within the team to collect the relevant information, and leading on the implementation within the model to improve confidence. This will then link into developing notional solutions for projects that will be passed over to the risk validation and tactical planning teams for further feasibility and design. This means you will play a key part in delivering improvements to Severn Trent Water's wastewater network in line with the company's business plan.

Some of your other key accountabilities will include:

Undertaking hydraulic modelling activity to meet current and future demands, working closely with colleagues in Operations, Tactical Asset Planning and Risk validation, as well as the wider business. Assessment of hydraulic model fitness for use; scoping, procuring and managing asset, flow and catchment surveys Model build, model update and model verification and confirming model fitness for use to meet Severn Trent Water design standards. Undertaking historical verification, talking to customers and operational colleagues to help understand asset and system performance. Undertaking catchment appreciation walkovers and attending surveys where necessary. Identifying root cause and mechanisms of network issues.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO THE ROLE

This role would be suitable for an individual with Hydraulic Network Modelling experience.

You'll join our team having experience in wastewater network modelling using InfoWorks ICM and associated GIS tools, or other relevant software packages. In addition, you'll have experience in scoping projects including asset survey planning.

You should be competent in the use of hydraulic modelling software and have a comprehensive understanding of hydraulics and hydraulic model limitations.

To be successful, you'll need to be well organised and possess meticulous attention to detail, with a keen interest in problem solving. You should be proactive, always looking ahead to anticipate problems and developing plans to mitigate risks, and you should be able to communicate and present data in an easily digestible form to a range of audiences.
