We’re looking for a **Modeller** to join our Risk Validation team, with responsibility for confirming model fitness for use to meet Severn Trent Water design standards and project specific requirements.

In this role, you’ll be evaluating the wastewater network performance to identify new/validate existing risks and needs. Developing notional solutions for projects that will be passed over to the capital delivery teams for further feasibility and design, you’ll be delivering improvements to Severn Trent Water’s wastewater network in line with the company’s business plan. Some of the typical risks that will require validation will include sewer flooding, growth, water framework directive / CSO performance and sewage pumping station performance.

You’ll also lead project specific hydraulic modelling requirements, including model audits/fitness for use assessments, model build and verification, and risk validation of catchment drivers.

Some of your other key accountabilities will include:

- Conduct and/or manage hydraulic modelling activity across multiple projects to meet current and future demands, working closely with colleagues in Tactical Asset Planning and the Capital Design & Delivery teams as well as the wider business.
- Assessment of hydraulic model fitness for use; scoping, procuring and managing asset, flow and catchment surveys
- Model build, model update and model verification and confirming model fitness for use to meet Severn Trent Water design standards.
- Undertaking historical verification, talking to customers and operational colleagues to help understand asset and system performance.
- Undertaking catchment appreciation walkovers and attending surveys where necessary.
- Identifying root cause and mechanisms of network issues.

**WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE**

This role would be suitable for an individual with either Water Quality modelling expertise or Hydraulic Network modelling experience.

You’ll join our team with experience in wastewater network modelling using InfoWorks ICM and associated GIS tools, or other relevant software packages. In addition, you’ll have experience in sewage treatment works inlet works and storm route design and operation, data management / analysis and risk identification, and scoping projects including asset survey planning.

You should be competent in the use of hydraulic modelling software and have a comprehensive understanding of hydraulics and hydraulic model limitations.

To be successful, you’ll need to be well organised and possess meticulous attention to detail. You should be proactive, always looking ahead to anticipate problems and developing plans to mitigate risks, and you should be able to communicate and present data in an easily digestible form to a range of audiences.
