Spire Nottingham Hospital has an opportunity for an experienced Cardiology Nurse to join our award winning specialist cardiology team within the outpatient department. We are in the process of growing our Cardiac service to include more vascular and structural procedures, as well as also increasing our cardiac surgery, with the aim to become the leading cardiology department in the East Midlands.
We have 1 hybrid theatre with cardiology lists running Mon-Sat and offer procedures including PFO, ASD, Pacemaker, Angioplasty, EPS and Ablation, DCCV and TOE with plans to launch TAVI in Summer 2024.
Spire Nottingham Hospital reached a milestone in July 2023, treating its 100thNHS PFO (Patent Foramen Ovale closure) case. We are now Europes leading Centre in completing the most PFO closures.
Spire offer full support with multiple funded courses available including cardiology pre-assessment courses, resus and 2 cardiology courses per year.
Spire Nottingham Hospital has the most modern, state of the art cardiac hybridtheatre to perform such sophisticated procedures. Main duties of the jobDuties and responsibilities:
As an outpatient Cardiology Nurse you will ensure our patients receive the highest levels of care. Every day is different in this role and you will work across various areas of the hospital including cardiology pre-assessment and cardiac outpatients.
- Complete the outpatients monitors and diagnostic tests
- Pre-operatively assess and manage our patients as a small group working closely with the consultants
- Aligning with consultant clinics
- Fitting ECG's and completing and interpreting the tests
- Stress tests
- Support cardiology patients across the hospital, acting as a subject matter expert to other staff.
- Provide and aspire to a regional centre of excellence approach to the service.

Job responsibilitiesWe have a new ITU department to allow more complex cardiac procedures and TAVI and have one of the largest stroke prevention programmes in the UK supporting the NHS with its COVID-19 recovery which started in May 2021.
Who we're looking for:
- Current NMC registration with no restrictions on practice
- At least 4 years experience within cardiology nursing
- ALS training would be an advantage, or a willingness to complete
- Ability to complete and interpret ECG's is essential
- Phlebotomy skills would be be advantageous
- Capable and confident, with the ability to work on own initiative
- Excellent organisational skills
- Flexible approach to work and working patterns
