What it's like to work here You'll provide support, direction and technical advice to property and estate teams on all aspects of the management of our agricultural land.

This includes land farmed and managed 'in hand', as well as supporting our tenants and others responsible for managingNational Trust land.


You'll be a member of the Consultancy Team in the Midlands and East of England Region, joining our Land and Nature Team.

You're part of a national network of Land Use and Farming Advisors, who will offer a wealth of peer support and experience.


Your contractual location is flexible across the Midlands and East of England Region, we're happy for you to work at any of our regional hubs or properties, that are appropriate for this role and there will be an opportunity to explore and agree a hybridworking arrangement, which strike the right balance for you and the Trust.

As you will cover the Norfolk, Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire regions you will need to have access to your own vehicle.

Business mileage will be paid for outside of your normal travelto your contractual base.

What you'll be doing Your property portfolio will be Norfolk, Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire

Your priorities will be:

  • Providing advice on sustainable farming, delivering innovative approaches to repurposing our land to deliver more for nature, carbon, and access.
  • You'll work closely with farming tenants, building relationships and trust, to offer support and advice to enable them to develop and maintain profitable, sustainable farm businesses, whilst also helping to deliver the NT strategy across their holdings.
  • Helping and supporting the development of new agrienvironment schemes; seeing opportunities for High Nature Status farming and for the creation of bigger and better habitats and carbon capture.
  • You'll share and champion your expertise in Agriecological farming and innovation, helping to move forward our ambitious strategy at pace.
Who we're looking for We want an innovative problem solver, looking to realise the best outcomes for our climate and nature, We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • Excellent engagement and negotiation skills, and a readiness for challenging conversations.
  • Experience explaining current farming issues and opportunities to a farming audience.
  • Substantial practical knowledge of farming and other land management systems.
  • Detailed understanding of farm businesses and experience of options appraisals.
  • Practical understanding of the principles of regenerative agriculture, soil management and farm carbon management.
  • Experience of delivering land use change and habitat creation programs
  • Understanding and implementation of farm compliance, legislation, and risk management.
  • Experience of project management and delivery.
