  • This is an opportunity to lead Public Policy and take responsibility for conduct and reputational issue management for the Retail bank

  • You'll be developing and building upon existing strong relationships with political stakeholders in the areas of importance to the Retail bank and its customers
  • This is a highprofile role, where you gain great exposure for you and your work

What you'll do:


You'll be delivering expert strategic communications, political advice and counsel to Chief Executive and executive stakeholders across the Retail bank.

With expert leadership, you'll manage cross functional teams that will shape the communication strategy for managing material issues and risks facing the bank, including conduct and regulatory actions.

Working closely with colleagues across Communications and the Group Chief of Staff Office, you'll be ensuring consistency with issues management and external engagement.


You'll also be:

  • Promoting the bank's interests to political and official stakeholders across Westminster and Whitehall and representing the bank at external UK trade associations and regulatory policy committees
  • Liaising with, and advising senior internal stakeholders on the UK political environment and regulatory change and the impact on the bank's policies
  • Proactively identifying government opinion formers and building up a contact network to provide intelligence to the business areas across the organisation
  • Ensuring that UK industry working groups and associations are aware of the bank's positions and are influenced by them

The skills you'll need:

We're looking for someone with excellent knowledge of the UK legislative process and an engagement in public policy issues. You'll have excellent communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

You'll also demonstrate:

  • An indepth understanding of the political process and public policy formation
  • Experience of working with or within Whitehall, Westminster or similar institutions
  • A broad understanding of trends in the economy and finance
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • The ability to work with discretion and sensitivity, work flexibly and effectively prioritise your workload
