The Legal team plays a central role in the new International Consumer Business (ICB), which is responsible for launching Chase UK, expanding to Europe, acquiring Nutmeg, a digital wealth manager, and investing in C6, a leading digital bank in Brazil.

As the Vice President of Strategic Growth & International Consumer Platform, Marketing & Data Lawyer within the ICB Legal team, you will provide comprehensive legal support across all aspects of product development and commercial contracts, including engagements with third-party suppliers in the UK, Germany, and globally.

You will offer primary legal guidance to senior leaders on all legal matters related to strategic business initiatives, playing a crucial role in ensuring their success by establishing foundations, negotiating key transactions, and driving progress.

Your role will involve structuring, drafting, negotiating, and analyzing agreements for acquiring and utilizing technology products and services, such as partnerships, Joint Ventures, reseller agreements, SaaS agreements, platform agreements, connectivity, API, and cloud services contracts.

You will collaborate closely with ICB senior executives, colleagues in Sourcing/Procurement, Third-Party Oversight, ICB Technology, Technology Controls, Bank Regulations, Human Resources, Privacy, and IP Legal.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of lawyers overseeing product development and transactional negotiations
  • Take on a leadership role within the team, guiding, motivating, and supporting team members' growth
  • Structure, draft, and negotiate agreements and partnerships with vendors, partners, customers, and third parties in the technology sphere
  • Advise business stakeholders on legal risks related to new product development, fostering innovation across various client bases and products
  • Provide timely corporate, transactional, and commercial legal support for new ventures
  • Coordinate legal advice from other departments outside of ICB
  • Support strategic investments and acquisitions resulting from the business initiative
  • Collaborate with external legal counsel when necessary
  • Assist in special projects as needed
  • Conduct legal research on a range of issues, laws, and jurisdictions

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

  • Qualified UK lawyer with extensive experience in business and transactional law, specializing in drafting and negotiating various commercial agreements, including global technology agreements
  • Knowledge of global regulatory issues in technology use in financial services, including cloud computing and outsourcing
  • Understanding of cybersecurity, technology controls, data privacy, and protection
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and legal research abilities
  • Global perspective and cross-border experience, particularly in the UK, EU, and US
  • Proven capability to identify issues, analyze problems, and offer effective solutions independently
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills
  • Ability to liaise effectively with personnel at all levels, including senior executives
  • Capability to work efficiently under pressure, meet deadlines, and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

  • Experience working in legal roles within financial institutions, large tech companies, or FinTech firms
