The Role: This individual will hold a senior leadership position in the Conferences, Training & Strategic Media (CTSM) business line, collaborating closely with the Head of CTSM to establish and implement a growth strategy for a global portfolio of Conferences, Training, and Strategic Media. This includes key initiatives for the CTSM business as well as the objectives of the Commodity Insights Division and S&P Global.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with business leaders to define and establish pathways for accelerating commercial growth in conferences, partnerships, and audience expansion across all product areas.
  • Act as a strategic liaison with supporting functions such as marketing and commercial teams to position the conferences and training portfolio as a strategic platform for external and internal communities, driving new client acquisition and improved retention. Work closely with Commodity Insights and relevant SPG divisions to enhance relationships and leverage synergies, particularly in areas like sustainability and energy transition within the energy sector.
  • Engage with Conferences & Advisory Solutions leadership to identify transformation initiatives and cooperate on financial and operational reporting.
  • Forge partnerships across Commodity Insights and SPG to foster internal collaborations for the development of a critical mass within the conference community.
  • Identify and execute strategic projects (e.g., technology integration, low-cost location strategies) while ensuring alignment with overall organizational goals and business strategy.
  • Manage financial reporting processes and methodologies, including revenue and cross-divisional incentives.
  • Collaborate with marketing and brand teams to optimize event positioning and messaging, establishing the conferences portfolio as a strategic platform for both external and internal communities, leading to new client acquisition.
  • In the global energy sector, work towards establishing industry and business networks for increased awareness and maintaining relationships at executive levels.
  • Ensure alignment of the CTSM group with the priorities of CI in terms of content and commercial objectives.
What We're Looking For:

A successful candidate for this role will be a visionary with extensive experience in delivering high-quality conferences in the energy industry, possessing strong execution skills, commercial acumen, and the ability to navigate successfully in a complex organizational structure and collaborate effectively at senior levels.

Required Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing and managing conferences with a proven track record of revenue generation and successful delivery.
  • Strong understanding of goal setting and achievement, with a focus on strategic growth across all aspects of conference P&L.
  • In-depth knowledge of the energy and related sectors, with the ability to operate across multiple industries.
  • Proficiency in Strategic Media insights and familiarity with best practices for optimizing the connection between live events and digital media.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Marketing and the application of new technologies and media.
  • High energy levels with a focus on delivery and a forward-thinking mentality.
  • Capability to perform under pressure and across large or intricate organizations.
  • Experience in managing high-level relationships internally and externally, including C-Suite interactions.
  • Direct exposure to global business environments and cultural sensitivities, including regions like Asia and the Middle East.
  • Ability to establish and implement a Vision in a collaborative setting.
  • Proven success in strategic thinking and implementation, including people management skills to drive change and maintain seamless interactions.
  • Willingness to travel when required.
