The post holder requires to be a passionate and driven individual with the level of expertise required that will assure the practice of psychologists and aligned psychology professionals working within CAMHS and NDS in Lanarkshire.


The post holder will have delegated responsibility for the operational management of defined psychology specific teams within CAMHS and Paediatric NDS inclusive of Consultant Psychologist colleagues.


They will provide professional leadership, alignment with wider NHSL professional psychology structure and assurance of clinical competence for Psychologist and other aligned psychology roles within NHS Lanarkshire CAMHS and NDS.


They will be a core part of CAMHS and NDS professional leadership team and will work with other multi professional colleagues to provide organisational assurance of clinical and professional governance structures.

What we'll need you to bring:
The post-holder will have post-graduate doctoral level training in Clinical or Counselling

Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by BPS/HCPC.

The post-holder will be a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.

The post-holder will have advanced, post-graduate doctoral level of knowledge of psychology theory, knowledge, and clinical practice including highly developed knowledge of lifespan developmental psychology, models of psychotherapy, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, and two or more distinct psychological therapies.


Within a management context, the post-holder will have experience of the full range of professional management activities including defining appropriative establishments, grading and recruitment procedures, performance and appraisal.

S/he will have experience of managing a Psychology Service Budget.

The post-holder will be able to demonstrate a commitment to the evaluation of services, enthusiasm for both multi professional and uni-professional audit, and a wish to continue to develop expertise in the service area.


It would be great if you also have:

  • Post-doctoral training in leadership and/or management is desirable
  • Evidenced experience of specialisation within child and family services inclusive of CAMHS, Paediatrics and/or NDS
  • Experience in professional and strategic leadership, long term strategic planning, and service development
  • A record of having published in either peer reviewed or academic or professional journals and/or books
  • Evidenced experience of delivering service improvement
  • Evidenced experience of working within framework of MH Legislation and supporting other colleagues to do this in a multidisciplinary way
  • Knowledge and evidenced experience of role specific to:
  • Delivery of National CAMHS Specification, Delivery of National Neurodevelopmental Specification, Public Protection, GIRFEC, UNCRC, The Promise

Location and Working Pattern:

This role will be based in the CAMHS Team within Coathill Hospital.

The working pattern for this role will be Monday - Friday 9-5
