We are looking for suitably qualified staff to perform the duties of a Part-Time Clerical Officer in the BHRUT Maternity Ultrasound Department , Queens Hospital and to maintain smooth good patient flow throughout the department.

We are a very large Radiology Department having five CT scanners and six MRI scanners as well as a dedicated Interventional Theatre Suite. We have a very large Ultrasound Department across both main hospitals and peripheral sites.

BHR is one of the largest associate teaching hospitals providing acute care for over 1,000,000 people from across two main sites - Queens and King George Hospital. Queens Hospital is situated close to the A12, within walking distance to Romford British Rail Station and local amenities.

King George Hospital is situated in Barley Lane, Goodmayes with good transport links. All new staff appointed to posts at the Trust will be subject to 6 months probationary period.

This will give new staff members an opportunity to become familiar with the culture and working environment of the Trust.

Main duties of the job


• To provide an efficient clerical service to the Ultrasound Department, Radiology, as required for the smooth running of the service.


• To be competent with the Radiology Information System, and Medway systems and Viewpoint.


• To input requests onto Radiology Information System in an accurate and timely manner, in line with radiology protocols, to enable accurate, efficient and timely responses to queries from staff and patients from both within and outside of the Trust


• To obtain information and act on it to resolve queries from a wide range of sources to facilitate the smooth running of the department.


• To collate paperwork and to present patient requests to Consultant Radiologists enabling correct and accurate protocol to be completed and to escalate queries raised by them.


• To check demographic and clinical details of the patient to ensure that the correct information is on each management system.

We provide care for the residents of three diverse London boroughs. Most of our 7,800 permanent staff live in Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge and the majority are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups. We also provide healthcare services to people in south west Essex, and specialist neurosciences services to the whole of the county.

Our services include all the major specialties of large acute hospitals and we operate from two main sites - King George Hospital in Goodmayes and Queen's Hospital in Romford. We have two of the busiest emergency departments in London – more than 300,000 people visited our A&Es in 2023. We also provide outpatient services at Brentwood Community Hospital, Barking Community Hospital, Loxford Polyclinic, and Harold Wood Polyclinic.

The Elective Surgical Hub at King George Hospital is one of eight to be ; the Care Quality Commission has raised the ratings for at Queen's and King George hospitals; and showed that the Trust was the most improved in 2023 for reducing waits for emergency care.

We are particularly proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre; Radiotherapy Centre; Hyper Acute Stroke Unit; and dedicated breast care service at King George Hospital. We're also part of the .

Experience of working in radiology department or in Maternity Medway/RIS skills

Experience/ Knowledge

Essential criteria

Administrative skills. At least 2 years relevant job experience in Health Care environment is required.

Desirable criteria

Experience of Administration Systems used in radiology e.g. Medway, RIS and PACS, Viewpoint
