About the role:


Registration of unregistered or incompletely registered Mesolithic-Neolithic and Bronze Age excavated collections stored at Franks House and Bloomsbury, and to assist with other, smaller, BEP documentation projects as they may arise.


Key areas of responsibility:

  • Organisation of large, excavated multiple material artefact assemblages, particularly later prehistoric stone tools or organic material, in preparation for registration in consultation with archives and publications.
  • Registration of large, excavated assemblages onto MI+.
  • Registration of historically unregistered collections onto MI+.
  • Registration of historic unregistered remainders within registered collections usually consisting of sherd and stone artefacts.
  • Photograph selected artefacts and upload onto Odin.
  • Contribute to other curatorial duties at Franks House, Bloomsbury, and the Archaeological Research Collection (ARC) (Reading)
  • Engage with the Early Societies Research Group at BM.

About you:

  • Masters in Neolithic or Bronze Age archaeology or related field
  • Experience of stone tool, pottery, or organic analysis
  • Experience of recording archaeological assemblages on databases
  • Knowledge of Neolithic or Bronze Age archaeology
  • Familiarity with databases and data storage
  • Research involving stone tool, pottery, animal bone or organic analysis.
  • Inputting records onto BM or other museum databases
  • Research on Neolithic or Bronze Age archaeology
  • Working on archaeological assemblages
