Classroom Behaviour Support

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with an Alternative Provision in Chorley (PR7). The school provides an education for co-ed students who have SEMH difficulties and Autism. Many children who attend this provision have been persistently absent form school and therefore, have large gaps in their learning. Many students often display challenging behaviours and need extra support to access their education. The school are looking to recruit multiple Behaviour Support Assistants to add to their growing team.

As a Behaviour Support Assistant in this provision, you have a very flexible job role in order to suit the needs of their pupils. In this role, you will be responsible for:

Supporting KS3 and KS4 students throughout the school day.

Helping them within academic subjects and in more holistic subjects such as life skills, motor vehicles and computer programming.

Allowing students to learn outside the classroom in a 1:1 setting.

De-escalate challenging behaviours.

Allow the students space to communicate and express themselves.

Support the teacher in monitoring, assessing, recording, and reporting pupils' progress according to the school's policies in order to monitor and foster pupils' progress in all areas of learning.

Support positive behaviour and concentration levels of the children and adapt own behaviour and responses to any change or escalations in behaviour of the children.

Promote spiritual, moral, social and cultural (SMSC) development and British values within the PSHE policy across the whole school.

Promote pupils' cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural, physical development and spiritual well-being through a whole Day Curriculum.

The school are looking for a person who is dynamic, versatile and is passionate about helping young people to have a second chance at education. Previous experience working within specialist provision is preferred but not essential.

If you are looking for a new challenging starting and are interested in supporting pupils who need additional support to access education or looking to obtain a full-time long-term position within specialist provisions, please give Emily a call on the Lancashire SEN Branch at Teaching Personnel.
