Job Description and Person Specification

About the Civil Service Retirement Fellowship

The Civil Service Retirement Fellowship (CSRF) is a national charity supporting former civil servants and their dependants.


We provide a range of charitable services to our beneficiaries including befriending schemes (home and telephone visits and pen pal), advice and information and a local community group network that provides social and leisure engagement.

We are supported by annual supporters and fundraising donations.

Salary:
£21,000 pro rata (£12,600 p/a)

Contract Type:
Permanent (after 3-month probation period)

Terms:

Terms and conditions detailed in Contract of Employment include 25 days' annual leave (pro rata), plus the days falling between Christmas and New Year; Bank Holidays, membership of a staff health benefit scheme.


Hours:
Part-time (3 days a week - preferred days would be Tues, Weds or Thurs)

Location:
Unit 11, Pepys House, Greenwich Quay, Clarence Road, London SE8 3EY

It requires someone who is exceptionally well organised, resilient and efficient, is used to dealing with a diverse workload and has excellent communications skills.

The role is office based but some external meetings and visits maybe required. These would be discussed and agreed on an individual basis.

Responsibilities
Communications & Marketing

  • Support senior management with the delivery of the CSRF's marketing and communications plan.
  • Engaging with Internal Communications Leads in government departments to provide regular updates on the work of the CSRF.
  • Supporting the provision of content for the CSRF's printed newsletter, Fellowship News
  • Maintaining and updating the CSRF's social media channels
  • Maintaining and updating the CSRF's website
  • Writing, designing and circulating the CSRF's monthly enewsletters.
  • Interviewing and writing up impact stories from volunteers and beneficiaries

Services

  • Support the recruitment of volunteers and promotion of service with new service users on the CSRF's Befriending Schemes
  • Support engagement with new organisations that provide services for those in later life.

Administration

  • Help Office Administrator with daytoday administration if and when needed
Person Specification

Essential:

  • Exceptional administration and organisational skills
  • Highly computer literate, confident and proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet and data entry
  • Selfmotivated, resilient, punctual, reliable, able to maintain confidentiality
  • Excellent written and spoken (facetoface and phone) communication skills
  • Ability to show initiative in developing the role and to work with mínimal supervision
  • Ability to work flexibly in a small team, building strong daytoday relationships with colleagues
  • Able to manage a varied workload, balancing scheduled tasks with requests for assistance from the team, which may have short deadlines

Desirable:

  • Empathy towards the issues facing those in later life
