Land Charges Officer

North East Derbyshire District Council is a dynamic and ambitious organisation that takes pride in delivering excellent services to our community whilst driving economic growth and environmental sustainability for the district.

An opportunity has arisen to work on a temporary part time basis in our Land Charges Team.


This role is perfect for an individual wishing to work additional hours or gain experience in a different area of work.

Working one or two days a week, this temporary part-time post will support to the Council's Land Charges Team. The role is office based and there is flexibility with working days.


Local land charges are generally financial charges or restrictions on the use of land which are governmental in character and imposed by public authorities under statutory powers, otherwise known as originating authorities.

They affect whoever owns the land and so there is an obligation that they are registered, to alert purchasers to their existence.


The Local Land Charges Section also deals with the property searches ("Con 29") which asks the Local Authority for information about the property such as its planning history and environmental health matters.

Although computers are used there is no specific Land Charges software system being used.

There is a fee for this work which is paid to the Council.
