Job Title: Telecommunications Engineer

Job Summary:

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled Telecommunications Engineer to join our team. As a Telecommunications Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the Virginia Statewide Agencies Radio System (STARS). This P25 trunked radio system includes an integrated voice and data land mobile radio (LMR) network with a microwave network backbone.

Responsibilities:

* Develop and maintain the STARS system, including radio frequency engineering and spectrum authorization
* Serve as the Virginia Chapter of the Association of Public-Safety Officials International (APCO) Radio Frequency Coordinator
* Coordinate radio frequency applications and resolve radio frequency interference issues
* Provide development and sustaining engineering support

Requirements:

* Demonstrated experience in electrical engineering theory as applied to wireless communication systems and technology
* Demonstrated ability to interpret technical materials and diagrams, develop technical solutions to complex problems, and communicate complex project solutions effectively in English
* FCC General Radio Operator License (GROL) is required within 6 months of employment
* High school graduate or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

* Skill in the operation of computers to include Microsoft Office Professional suite and RF modeling
* Preferred experience coordinating radio frequency applications accordance with 47 CFR and APCO policies
