This is an exciting opportunity to join the South Yorkshire Integrated Stroke Delivery Network (SY ISDN) as ourNetwork Manager.


We are seeking a talented individual to guide and support implementation of regional strategies which result in demonstrable improvements in stroke care through enthusiastic, senior leadership.


SY ISDN's ambition is to ensure that people within South Yorkshire have equal access to the highest quality stroke care across the whole pathway.

To achieve this, we bring people together, empowering them to transform, innovate and develop stroke services, improving outcomes for all involved.

We welcome applications from dynamic individuals with a proven track record of delivering complex programmes of work within clinical services.

This role is offered on afull-time secondment or fixed term basis for 18 months.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and facilitating delivery of regional stroke developments with the SY ISDN Clinical Leads and wider network.

This will include ensuring that key strategic objectives are met and agreed key performance indicators for the network are achieved.

They will take responsibility for leading collaboration between local Trusts and other core stakeholders, developing relationships and delivering service transformation across Trusts and places to make services in South Yorkshire (SY) more resilient and sustainable.


The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator and leader,with a flair for building consensus among internal, local, regional, and national colleagues and stakeholders.

They will work autonomously, becoming a subject matter expert and ensuring that support is always available across the network.

This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for a period of 18 months due to the post being externally funded.

The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts taking into consideration the ongoing source of the external funding and the requirement for the post to be maintained.

Experience of working at a senior leadership level in a specialist area.
Project / Programme management qualification or equivalent level of experience (e.g., Evidence of continuing professional development relevant to role.

Extensive experience of working at a senior level in a large organisation and in a political environment engaging stakeholders effectively in consensus and collective decision-making environments to achieve common aims.

Extensive practical experience of leading complex programmes, transformation pieces and or clinical / delivery networks and delivering them within agreed timescales and budgets.

Experience of identifying and interpreting national policy and implementing this through programmes of work and the development of strategies and plans.

Experience of managing budgets for complex programmes of work, including budget setting and monitoring.
Must understand the background to and aims of current healthcare policy and appreciate the implications of this.
Must understand the relationship between the Department of Health and individual provider and commissioning organisations.
Experience of budgetary responsible, including budget setting with evidence of working knowledge of financial processes.
Experience of building effective cross functional working relationships to drive organisational agenda.
Demonstrable experience of engagement and influencing with diverse groups, including patients, the public, senior professionals, and Board-level managers

Extensive knowledge of specialist areas acquired through post graduate diploma or equivalent experience or training plus further specialist knowledge or experience to master's level equivalent.

Understanding of the broader framework of the NHS reforms alongside current policies and the political environment in relation to health and social care.

Takes decisions on difficult and contentious issues where there may be several courses of action and able to impart unwelcome news.

Able to negotiate on difficult and contentious issues including performance and change.

Ability to effectively plan and think strategically and analyse and resolve problems in a multi-disciplinary environment to develop strategic plans and policies.

Demonstrate the ability to plan over the short, medium, and long-term altering plans to fit with the rapidly changing environment.

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 suite including Microsoft Teams and intermediate keyboard skills.

Evidence of planning and delivering complex programmes and projects and services on time
Ability to interpret national policy for implementation and develop regional / local policy which aligns to this.

Significant capability to understand and analyse multiple complex issues simultaneously, drawing on a breadth of knowledge, experience, understanding and data sources to inform judgment and decision-making, and to see that information ethically to balance competing priorities and make difficult decisions.
