What is the job role?

We are seeking to appoint an Improvement Officer – (Strategic) to join a fast paced, dynamic team whose role it is to support the Programme Delivery Manager in the delivery of improvement projects and service priorities including inspection preparation and the implementation of plans and strategies within the Children and Education Services. You will:

Work closely with the Programme Delivery Manager on the planning and preparation of inspection work across the service, supporting on Children's Ofsted Inspections (ILACS), Special Education Needs and Disability Inspections (SEND) and Youth Justice inspections (HMIP) to deliver outstanding results on our journey to excellence. Support with work on Strategic Plans, Inspection and Improvement Action Plans and provide support with ad hoc projects, monitoring progress and generating reports. Provide strategic support to the Director of Children and Education Services and the Children and Education Leadership Team, with attendance at meetings/Boards taking minutes/actions; coordinating the responses to Freedom of Information requests, writing reports and presentations, working closely with key stakeholders and partners to deliver outstanding results and realise the opportunities these changes offer. You will lead on the planning and co-ordination of Children and Education Services wide events with the team – e.g Annual Conference; Manager Briefings, Let's Talk Children and Education Services.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Who are we looking for?

To be successful in this role we are looking for people who:

Have experience of working with senior managers and/or elected members and the policy context challenges for local authorities both at national and local levels Have experience of supporting on projects, monitoring progress/plans and writing reports Highly organised and able to balance conflicting priorities and demands working under pressure, with the ability to work on initiative and be flexible to change Excellent communicator in writing and verbally and be able to adapt to relevant audiences, including senior managers, Councillors, partners on complex issues.
