About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mental Health Practitioner to join our team at Avon & Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust. As a key member of our CAMHS service, you will play a vital role in improving children and young people's timely access to mental health services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and treat children and young people with complex mental health difficulties, working within the i-Thrive framework and in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Hold a caseload of young people from triage to assessment, offering evidence-based interventions and supporting their families and wider professional networks.
  • Work with children, young people, and families in an accessible and flexible approach, using an outreach model to meet their needs.
  • Contribute to the development of joint agency protocols for pathways of care, intervention, or treatment, and participate in multi-agency safeguarding conferences.
  • Assess child safeguarding issues and practice within local safeguarding guidelines, sharing and directly referring on concerns when appropriate.
  • Participate in identifying service needs and gaps across agencies with regard to children and young people's mental health.
Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • Current registration with the NMC, Allied Health Professional with HCPC registration, or UKCP registration, and commitment to CPD.
  • Relevant post-registration qualifications relevant to children's and adolescent mental health and systemic therapeutic skills.
  • Experience of using assessment skills of mental illness and risk in children and young people.
  • Working knowledge of how specialist child and adolescent mental health services are organised and operate.
  • Demonstrated experience of assessing risk and developing risk management strategies with young people.
