About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Officer to join our team at DE&S, supporting the successful delivery of defence procurement programmes with real-world impact.

As a Commercial Officer, you will be responsible for developing Invitation to Tender documentation, negotiating terms, pricing, and placing contracts up to a maximum delegation of £2.5M in accordance with Ministry of Defence policy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage procurement strategies, analysing market trends and learning from experience to inform contract management decisions.
  • Lead and/or assist in the portfolio management of Category A – D contracts, ensuring contract obligations are met in line with the contract and business requirements.
  • Monitor supplier performance management in accordance with Contract Management Plans.
  • Contribute to wider Commercial function and business improvement activities.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers and colleagues.
Requirements
  • Experience in sourcing and/or managing contracts, with a strong understanding of procurement policies and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Proficient IT skills, including Microsoft Office and ability to use IT systems and programmes.
