What you'll be doing
The Head of Strategy will be responsible for the development and leadership for the agency's strategic practice.

Key areas of responsibility will be leading a large and talented multi-disciplinary strategy team to find insightful truths that connect during moments that matter to help brands earn meaningful role in people's lives.

Together with a wealth of experience in strategy and engagement and a successful track record of delivering ambitious growth in health, we want you to inspire our agency and our clients to be leaders in their field.


You'll be a success if you:

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop, adapt and embed McCann Worldgroup and IPG Health proprietary processes and tools and other complementary processes and techniques within the agency to ensure we offer the most relevant, effective and competitive planning service for our clients.
  • Develop the agency's approach and reputation in engagement strategy to ensure the team is digitallysavvy and forward thinking in building brands and customer experiences.
  • Consistently reevaluate the department's deliverables and help optimize and refine them on an asneeded basis to ensure all strategist's are delivering highquality work across accounts.
  • Drive consistent use of strategic processes across the agency to ensure a collective understanding of the tools used with the strategy planning process.
  • Undertake the strategic 'stewardship' of McCann Health London clients and ensure effective quality control over all department outputs.
  • Ensure quality and effectiveness of our creative and strategic output, in partnership with the ECD and respective business leads.
  • Work with the Group Head of Planning, IPGH and the Chief Strategy Officer, IPGH, to shape regionwide and global strategic initiatives, driving successful implementation of these within McCann Health London
  • Lead a culture of effectiveness within McCann Health London, ensuring teams are trained and equipped to deliver their most effective work
  • Develop the team engagement strategy capabilities, ensuring that teams have a strong grasp of priniciples and approach
  • Build and sustain specialist strategic planning disciplines including Experience Strategy and Social Sciences

People Leadership

  • Drive a culture of high performance across the strategy team through leadership that inspires the strategy team to deliver bestinclass work.
  • Provide visible, motivational, and decisive leadership across the strategy team.
  • Set the highest standards in terms of leadership behaviours; supporting a culture of diversity and inclusion; respect for others, collaboration, responsibility and accountability.
  • Ensure that the strategy team structure is fit for purpose to support the goals of McCann Health London continually assessing team capabilities with business needs.
  • Create a culture of collaboration across MHL to ensure that the strategy team is working effectively together with other disciplines internally.
  • Ensure highquality selection, training and development and performance management of all direct line reports
  • Coach and mentor the strategy team to support their career development.
  • Ensure strong uptake of appropriate IPGH training initiatives and solutions to continually grow the performance of the Strategy department

Business Development and Client Relationships

  • Develop, maintain and grow relationships with key senior clients, providing bestinclass consultancy on how best to achieve business and brand goals
  • Lead Agency strategic response to RFPs and new business efforts (organic or new).
  • Work with Business Leadership to develop a strategic plan for the agency to build client brands, creates business opportunities and support business growth.
  • Understand and adapt the IPGH Brand Planning process and make it your own for McCann Health London
  • Drive a culture of pushing boundaries, strong client service and innovation to ensure the ongoing development of capabilities and competitiveness.
