Bowel Cancer Screening Programme Hub Screening

An exciting opportunity has arisen for several Screening Officers to join the North East Bowel Cancer Screening Programme Hub which supports Bowel Cancer Screening Services for a population of 8.85 million.


The role includes administrative, laboratory and call centre functions, including processing of returned screening samples, acting as first point of contact on the national Freephone helpline, as well as helping in the production of significant quantities of outgoing mail (invitations, reminders, test packs and results) using bespoke software and complex mailroom equipment as part of the call and re-call of the national programme.


The post-holder will work as part of the integrated administrative and laboratory based team, working to meet the national targets and standards set by the NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme (NHS BCSP).

The Laboratory is situated in the heart of the North East, close to the historic and cultural cities of Newcastle and Durham.

The area offers excellent leisure, sport and shopping facilities with the Northumbria coast and countryside nearby. There are excellent transport links both regionally and between the laboratory sites.
