Consultant Biomedical Scientist in Cervical Screening Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Biomedical Scientist to join our team at Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a clinical diagnostic reporting service for cervical cytology specimens and histology specimens, and will work closely with our team of Consultant Pathologists and Consultant Biomedical Scientists.
Key Responsibilities- Provide specialist expert interpretative skills to the training of Cytology staff.
- Assist the Cervical Screening Provider Lead to ensure the quality and effectiveness of the screening programme linked to the laboratory.
- Attend cervical/colposcopy and gynaecological multi-disciplinary team (MDT) meetings, and contribute to the development of quality standards for the reporting of cervical samples.
- Work in compliance with local health and safety rules to ensure a safe working environment, and adhere to department and Trust Health and Safety policies.
- BSc in Biomedical Sciences or equivalent, and registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HPC).
- NHSCSP Certificate of Competence in Cervical Cytology, and MSc in Biomedical Sciences or equivalent.
- Extensive knowledge of the principles and practice of the NHS Cervical Screening Programme, and in-depth knowledge of the quality requirements pertaining to Cytology Laboratories and Colposcopy Clinics.
- Ability to work unsupervised, and to maintain prolonged concentration and accuracy.
