Specialist Intervention Outreach Worker

Norwich, Norfolk, United Kingdom Norfolk County Council Full time

Permanent Contract | 37 hours per week | £30,151 to £32,020 per annum (Grade H) | Norwich
I am Joanne Reeve, CWD Service Manager for Residential and Short Breaks in Children's Social Care. I wanted to let you know about an exciting opportunity here in Norfolk, working with children with additional needs.

I am looking for individuals who are passionate about improving outcomes for disabled children, working in a new outreach service for children with disabilities in Norfolk.

You will provide direct care (which will include providing personal intimate care and nursing tasks), intervention, and support to young people within their own homes, with the aim of preventing family breakdown and young people being accommodated.

The service will respond to families experiencing care crises, supporting them to develop new strategies to manage any behavioural and/or care needs.

The outreach service will work across the county with children and young people experiencing learning/physical disabilities and may include those with complex health needs and challenging behaviour.

You will be a highly motivated, resilient and a positive team player with humour and empathy to help children and young people with disabilities thrive and reach their full potential.

The team will work across the whole week (including weekends and bank holidays) and can include unsociable hours, night work, sleep ins and also being part of the on-call rota system.

(Additional enhancements are paid for weekends, bank holidays on call and sleep ins).

We provide a comprehensive induction programme as well as ongoing training to develop new and existing skills and encourage career progression.

If you would like an informal discussion or more information, then please contact Emma Tolhurst, Team Manager on

We want our people to be inspired and motivated to work well together, make the most of our workspaces, enjoy a healthy work-life balance, and deliver excellent services to Norfolk and its people.

Flexibility is built into the way we work, with hybrid working a key feature for many roles. Our technology platform and equipment are first class, enabling you to connect and collaborate remotely. We ask that you have in place good Broadband connectivity.
