Leading work in the strategy department of the Hospital to support addressing health inequalities within Haringey and Enfield. Developing collaborative partnerships with local statutory and voluntary organisations to improve the health and wellbeing of our local population.


The Head of planning & partnerships supports the Director of Strategic Development on leading activities to support the strategic development of the organisation.

In particular the post holder will lead on the local regeneration projects that support the Trust commitment as an anchor institution and to reducing health inequalities in Enfield and Haringey.

The postholder is a key interface between the Executive team, alongside the Director of Strategic Development into the operational teams.


The post holder will lead the development and implementation of a strategic programme of engagement and partnership working with our key local stakeholders and communities, and lead key partnership projects.

They will also support the delivery of initiatives that take promote a population health approach in the boroughs of Enfield and Haringey.


It is critical that the post holder has very strong communication skills and is able to work in a flexible way to support the organisation system wide structures, prioritising work in line with organizational requirements and responding to demands and deadlines as necessary.


North Mid is part of North Central London integrated care system - consisting of the NHS and Local authority organisations in Camden, Islington, Barnet, Enfield and Haringey.

As with other ICS's, we are working increasingly closely with partners and indeed many of our financial and performance objectives are measured at this system level.

Whilst all organisations remain as standalone, statutory bodies we have an ICS infrastructure for making shared decisions and agreeing shared approaches.

We are also a training unit for medical students from UCL and St George's University Grenada, and for nursing and midwifery students from Middlesex and City Universities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead proposals, initiatives and key workstreams in the development of partnerships with other provider organisations around the system that address inequalities of provision or opportunities to improve effectiveness/productivity of services. Utilising business intelligence from HealthEintent and other population health management sources to inform key areas of development.
  • Keeping abreast of national developments, ensuring that the Trust is responding appropriately and maintaining our positive national profile
  • Ensure an aligned approach between Trust Patient First Strategy, divisions' operational plans, and the organisation's delivery arrangements. This will include understanding the national and regional NHS and social care context.
  • Identifying, contributing to and leading on major developments within the Boroughs that affect the Trust or where we are active partners such as the ICS
  • Lead key initiatives to secure funding and implement within the Trust projects that will help and support the Core20Plus5 NHS mandate, but also other initiatives that will address health life expectancy and health equity
  • Support the Divisions with key strategic planning and development activities including tender and business case completion, implementation and monitoring, where these are Organisationled, liaising with corporate services such as finance, information and capital planning as required.
  • Lead the organisation's response to Borough, NHSE and local authority consultations on issues pertinent and relevant to the department and organisation particularly around regeneration and system or integration development ensuring this is aligned to the organisational strategy. In particular the postholder will lead the implementation of both 'catchball' within the organisation.
  • Provide leadership and support to clinical and support teams to develop local strategies ensuring that these are are aligned with Trust strategy and Patient First programmes
  • Play a key role in the determination, implementation and monitoring of corporate strategies, business plans and operational goals.
  • Act as a key contact for the Trust around the regeneration agenda for developments (particularly housing) in the local area or wider geographical areas where they will impact on services at the hospital
  • Utilising complex data and information available from population health management, develop and lead a programme of work to support the 'anchor institution' ambitions of the Trust. This will focus on key public health interventions, and other initiatives to support both anchor and net zero goals.
