What you will be doing

We are looking for a Head of Strategy to lead the strategy department in the London office. The role will report to Matt Willifer (CSO, UK), and will also work alongside Chris Davies - the fellow Head of Strategy based in Manchester.

You will have ultimate responsibility for the strategists within the London office - inspiring them, helping make their work better, as well as developing their careers and managing their welfare.

You will bring strategic leadership across a number of London clients - exact portfolio tbc. You will lead major pitches for Carat and dentsu. And you will jointly shape the vision and delivery of strategy across the whole of the UK.

We are after someone who is a big picture thinker and a natural collaborator. Carat is a front door to the One Dentsu network. This is a real differentiator for us - and our partnerships with Merkle in particular has been at the heart of an outstanding recent new business record. You will be the person that sets the overall strategy and knits all of this together for the clients you touch. Internally, you will draw different people together, and thrive in being part of an enjoyable, collaborative process.

We are after someone who empathetic, curious, and able to generate (or spot) fresh insight. At the heart of Carat's approach lies a deep understanding of real people - how they live their lives, how they choose brands, and how they interact with media and technology. We are after a natural people person who can gain the respect of very senior clients, hold a room in big pitches, and also inspire junior people and help them feel good about themselves. We are after someone who can cut through - a natural story teller who has the ability to keep things simple and actionable amid all the potential complexity.

And we are after someone who pushes for more, who is ambitious for the work, and who is intrigued by the emerging opportunities of the marketing landscape, in media and beyond. Carat was the first media agency, and remains a pioneer. What you'll bring

  • Experience leading a team and managing multiple client stakeholders.
  • Held a very senior strategic position in a Media/Creative agency
  • Exceptional client servicing and proven track record of delivery
  • Experience on leading and delivery of client pitches

This is a permanent role. The team is based in our London office but operates under flexible working arrangements.
