Sunderland, Sunderland, United Kingdom Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust Full time

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 4 Assistant Psychologist to join the Community Acquired Brain Injury Service (CABIS) for a fixed term appointment for 12 months in a fast paced and vibrant team providing community based neuro-rehabilitation to adults (16 years and over) with acquired brain injuries (ABI) and their carers.

We are looking for individuals with enthusiasm and an interest in the area of neuro-rehabilitation and neuropsychology.

Applicants must be able to work in a truly multidisciplinary team and be willing to learn from those with an ABI, fellow staff and other service providers in the community.

Applicants must:

  • Have the drive to deliver effective patientfocused care,
  • Have excellent selfawareness, interpersonal and communications skills,
  • Have a strong commitment to patient's welfare, team development, teaching, training and research,
  • Be able to meet the mobility and geographical requirements of the post.

We aim to attract and retain a diverse, talented and committed workforce, who are caring and compassionate, and therefore able to meet the demands of the modern NHS now and in the future.

In return we can offer a dynamic working environment in which to build a career.

We collaborate closely with fellow services in CNTW and the area to provide proactive treatment and support.

The team is multi-disciplinary and multi-agency with partnerships between CNTW and 3rdsector organisations to provide a more holistic approach including vocational support and the benefits / peer support.

This would be an excellent opportunity for anyone who is keen to gain experience of working with neuropsychology as part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team, to support those with acquired brain injuries living in the community.

The post will also offer an opportunity to learn about the administration and interpretation of psychometric assessments, to support formulation and intervention.

The post holder will be jointly supervised by Neuropsychology and Occupational Therapy and supported to implement goal based neurorehabilitation within the community, and in doing so, the will gain insights into assessment and treatment from different therapeutic perspectives.
