We are currently recruiting for a
Payroll Administrator to join our
Finance team to support and collate the payroll inputs for three companies' monthly payroll (circa 700 colleagues).


This is a Fixed Term contract position, initially until 31st
July 2023.

What will you be doing in this role?


In this vital role you will support the collation of all monthly payroll inputs, including but not limited to starters/leavers, amendments, annual salary changes, overtime and shift pay, pension changes, private mileage, and long service awards.

You will support the review of the monthly payroll and distribute standard reports to key stakeholders.

You will also work with the Payroll Manager to maintain the P11d system, produce our PAYE settlement agreement, and liaise with the Revenue and Customers to agree what can be put through each year ensuring statutory compliance.


You will have
proven payroll administration experience for a medium sized company, be a
good communicator, both verbal and written, used to
building great relationships with internal and external customers.

You will be organised, able to manage multiple concurrent tasks within tight timescales, and have a
high attention to detail.


Key skills and experience:

  • Experience operating a computerised payroll system for a medium sized company, including PAYE, SSP, SMP, SPP, P45's, P60's, P11D's, P35, and year end data,
  • Methodical and organised in your approach to work,
  • Able to demonstrate capable of working to strict deadlines,
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel including lookups and pivots,
  • The ability to work off your own initiative,
  • Flexible in outlook,
  • A high attention to detail,
  • Experience of operating an Accord payroll system would be desirable.

Your key day-to-day responsibilities could include:
To support the collation of all monthly payroll inputs e

g:

  • Starters; leavers and amendments,
  • Annual salary increases,
  • Overtime and shift pay including average holiday pay overtime,
  • Pension changes,
  • Private mileage,
  • Long service awards etc.
  • Ensure compliance with NMW,
  • Support the review of monthly payroll,
  • Support the distribution of standard reports to stakeholders,

Work with the Payroll Manager to:

  • maintain P11d system throughout year with production of P11d at year end and payment made to the Revenue & Customs, ensuring statutory compliance,
  • Production and payments to our PAYE settlement agreement, liaising with the Revenue & Customs to ensure statutory compliance,
  • Completing yearend returns both paper and electronically via government gateway for all payrolls, ensuring statutory compliance,


Support payroll projects
  • Process Improvement and move to outsourced payroll,
  • Ensuring monthly payments are made to numerous third parties, including Attachment of Earnings order (AEO's), Revenue & Customs, and pension schemes, so that the yearend payments balance on the P35,
  • Process and manage the company's stakeholder and final salary pension schemes, liaising with the scheme providers including balancing and making payments,
  • Updating Payroll Processes manuals.
