Job overview

An opportunity has arisen for a Registered Practitioner Psychologist with extensive forensic experience to join NELFT's Forensic Psychology Service as the Professional Lead; this is to cover a secondment. The NELFT Forensic Psychology Service has expanded in recent years to provide a community service across the Trust in each of NELFT's four London boroughs. The role will include leading and further developing this service and well as overseeing psychology provision to NELFT's low secure forensic ward. This is an exciting area of forensic services to work in, as nationally forensic community teams are being further expanded and invested in. The post holder will work closely with other North London Trusts as part of the North London Forensic Consortium.

The wider NELFT psychology department is friendly, supportive, and innovative: You would have good access to CPD opportunities across the Trust. We actively support the development of leadership skills and aim to nurture our staff and support them in their development. Members of the psychology department have strong links to academic institutions and are engaged in research and teaching on a variety of training courses.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will exercise full responsibility and autonomy over clinical practice. The post holder will provide supervision and management to the rest of the team. Interventions include individual, group, and family work. The post holder will also have a clinical case load working with service users across the community and NELFT's inpatient services. They will be expected to promote high standards and ensure robust governance of Forensic Psychology provision.

Experience in service development will be important for the post holder as there will be opportunity to align the Forensic Psychology Service to wider transformation happening within Psychological Professions across NELFT – this is with shared values of co-production, improving access and equity of service and meeting local population needs. There will also be a responsibility for mobilising a men's primary care Mental Health Treatment Requirement Service along with East London Foundation Trust.

Good applicants would be passionate about addressing discrimination and inequalities and have an awareness of how this affects mental health, recovery, and risk in a forensic population. The boroughs covered by the Trust are diverse and we would actively encourage applicants to apply who represent this diversity.
