Role/Department:

We are seeking a senior lawyer for the position of Senior Legal Counsel and Senior Vice President to support Northern Trust's asset servicing business in the UK and Middle East. Reporting to the Assistant General Counsel for the UK asset servicing legal team, this role involves collaborating with a team of 6 asset servicing lawyers in London, within a legal department of over 85 lawyers globally, including 25 in EMEA.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Provide legal support for Northern Trust's asset servicing units in the UK and Middle East, focusing on global custody, fund services, and wealth management;
  • Advise senior management, review contracts, and negotiate agreements;
  • Collaborate with internal and external legal teams to ensure compliance and consistency;
  • Support strategic projects, new initiatives, and assist in compliance and risk management.

Skills/Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in financial services or a UK financial institution;
  • Exposure to global custody, fund administration, and wealth management;
  • Knowledge of Middle East markets, specifically Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi Global Market;
  • Strong integrity, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills;
  • Detailed understanding of market-driven and regulatory initiatives;
  • Excellent contract drafting and negotiation abilities;
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
