We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join our team at Legal & General. As a Senior Legal Counsel, you will play a critical role in providing legal advice and support to our business units, ensuring that our operations are compliant with relevant laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide legal advice and guidance to our business units on a range of matters, including corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop and implement legal strategies to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify and address legal issues and risks.
  • Provide training and support to our business units on legal matters and best practices.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in laws and regulations and provide guidance on how to comply with them.
Requirements:
  • Qualified solicitor (or a solicitor or attorney qualified in another jurisdiction) with a minimum of 4 years' post-qualification experience within a leading law firm or and/or in-house.
  • Detailed knowledge of the relevant statutory, regulatory and common laws including those applicable to the field of corporate law in a major financial services group.
  • Experience in advising on a broad range of general corporate matters.
  • Experience negotiating, executing and managing a broad range of corporate transactions, including mergers & acquisitions, disposals, minority investments and consortium and joint venture arrangements.
  • Familiarity with funds transactions, private equity and/or energy/infrastructure transactions highly desirable.
  • Experience advising clients in financial services and/or other regulated sectors highly desirable.
