Accompany an 18 year old to access the local community for days out, so he can get involved with activities he enjoys such as; bus rides into King's Lynn town centre, walk around parks, seaside trips (weather permitting) bowling, cinema, and MENCAP activities.

The young man likes to be called 'Cedric' he has high levels of anxiety, autism, and learning disabilities.

If Cedric gets upset and distressed due to certain noises he does not like, time needs to be taken to calm himself down, and be taken out of the situation.

Communication with Cedric needs to be in a simplistic manner for him to understand, and is perceptive of peoples emotions which will reflect on his mood.


Person Specification

Essential:

- **Have solid years of experience dealing with people with special needs, who are similar to Cedric.

  • Knowledge of how to manage people with learning disabilities.
  • Have enthusiasm and patience in dealing with people with special needs.
  • Reliable
  • Approachable
  • Friendly

Desirable:

  • First aid trained
  • Full UK Driving licence
  • Use of own car for work purposes

Summary Terms and Conditions

  • The rate of pay for this position is £11.68 p/h.
  • Hours and times of work as follows: Up to 6 hours over
    Saturday or Sunday,
    or both days.
  • A satisfactory enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, the cost of which will be covered by the employer
  • Completion of a satisfactory probation period of 3 months.
  • The annual holiday entitlement for this position will be equivalent to the work I would normally expect to be done during 5.6 consecutive weeks.
